该系列节目中出现了几支各具特色的风暴追逐者团队。有些团队致力于收集龙卷风数据，目的是改善预警系统，为人们的生命财产安全提供更可靠的保障。而有些团队则有着不同的目标，比如TIV团队，由凯西和马库斯·古铁雷斯领导，团队成员还包括接替罗南担任司机的救援医生，以及导航员和射手/制片人拜伦·特克。
他们驾驶着装甲龙卷风拦截车（TIV），目标是拍摄龙卷风内的镜头。TIV配备了气象仪器，能从离地面约12英尺的地方收集数据。当这些数据与DOW雷达图像和探测数据相结合时，能帮助团队成员更全面地了解龙卷风的结构，为研究龙卷风提供了宝贵的资料。
里德带领的团队规模虽小，但机动性强，他们的目标是捕捉“极端视频”以及龙卷风的科学数据。通过拍摄到的极端视频，人们可以更直观地感受到龙卷风的强大威力和恐怖景象，而科学数据则有助于深入研究龙卷风的形成和发展规律。
蒂默的团队在节目中被称为“团队支配者”，这源于他们自己的装甲追逐车——SRV支配者。这辆车为他们的风暴追逐行动提供了有力的支持。
在新赛季中，凯西的团队也有了变化，他们用TIV2取代了一直遭受慢性机械问题的TIV。这一改变或许能让他们在追逐风暴的过程中更加顺利，获取更多有价值的信息。
